There’s something incredibly peaceful about evenings at the farm.
The sky begins to soften, everything goes quiet apart from the sounds of the animals settling down for the night, and somehow the world feels slower for a little while. No rush. No pressure. Just fresh air, muddy boots and three best friends waiting by the fence for attention.
Eddie the donkey and his two miniature pony companions have formed the sweetest little friendship. Wherever one goes, the others are never far behind. Watching them stand together in the evening light honestly feels like something out of a storybook.
People often underestimate just how emotional and connected animals can be. Friendships between animals are so fascinating to watch because they remind us how important companionship, comfort and familiarity are — not just for humans, but for them too.
Donkeys in particular are incredibly affectionate and emotionally intelligent animals. Eddie absolutely loves attention and will quite happily stand waiting at the fence for scratches and fuss. The ponies are just as curious, always wanting to know what’s going on and whether snacks might be involved.
It’s moments like these that remind us why nature is so healing.
Not because everything is perfect, but because animals have this beautiful way of bringing you back into the present. Standing quietly watching the sunset with a donkey and two tiny ponies may seem simple, but somehow it recharges parts of you that modern life wears down.
Sometimes therapy doesn’t look like a clinic room.
Sometimes it looks like this.
