Pre-Session Health & Safety Information

Health & Safety Information

Thank you for booking Furry Friends Animal Therapy. We really look forward to visiting you.

To ensure that every session is safe, calm, and enjoyable for both people and animals, please take a moment to read the information below before your visit.

Licensing & Animal Welfare

Furry Friends Animal Therapy is fully licensed and regulated by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council under an Animal Welfare Licence.

We follow strict guidelines, policies, and procedures, including risk assessments, hygiene protocols, and welfare monitoring. The wellbeing of our animals, and the people we visit, is always our highest priority.

Only a small, carefully selected group of animals take part in visits. They are chosen based on their temperament, confidence, and suitability for this work, and are never forced to participate.

Access, Parking & Setup

Please ensure there is adequate parking available for our arrival.

If we are attending with ponies or donkeys, additional space may be required for a horse trailer.

It is also important that there is suitable access into the space where the session will take place, including clear and accessible entrances and exits. This allows animals to be moved safely and calmly throughout the visit.

Where possible, pathways should be free from obstacles, and the space prepared in advance to support a smooth and stress-free setup.

Session Planning

Please inform us in advance of the number of individuals attending the session.

This allows us to plan appropriately, structure the visit effectively, and ensure a safe and positive experience for both participants and animals.

Preparing for the Session

To help create a calm and safe environment:

  • Please inform us in advance of any allergies or known phobias
  • Participants should remain seated where appropriate
  • The environment should be kept as calm and quiet as reasonably possible

During the session, animals are introduced in a controlled and gradual manner to ensure they are not overwhelmed and that all interactions remain safe and positive.

Photography & Consent

We may occasionally take photographs during sessions to share the work we do.

Please ensure that appropriate consent has been obtained for any individuals who may be included.
If anyone should not be photographed, please inform us in advance and we will fully respect this.

Infection Prevention & Hygiene

Animals can carry germs that may cause illness, particularly for children, elderly individuals, or those with reduced immune systems.

While risks are low, they can never be completely eliminated. However, simple hygiene measures significantly reduce this risk.

Before the session:

  • Ensure participants have access to handwashing facilities

During the session:

  • No eating or drinking while animals are present

After the session:

  • All participants should wash their hands thoroughly with warm, soapy water

Health & Illness

If your setting is experiencing illness or an outbreak, we kindly ask that you contact us to rearrange your visit.

This helps protect both the individuals attending and the welfare of our animals.

Arrival Times

We always aim to arrive on time. However, due to traffic or unforeseen circumstances, delays can occasionally happen.

If we are running late, we will always contact you to keep you informed.

Get in Touch

If you have any questions, concerns, or specific requirements ahead of your visit, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
