Sometimes, the animals who need us most find their way to us when we least expect it.
This is Teddy’s Story: From Matted and Lost to Safe and Loved.
Teddy was found hiding under a car completely matted, frightened, and clearly having had a very difficult start to life. Thankfully, the kind person who found him took him to the vets, where he was cared for over two days while attempts were made to find a rescue placement. With no spaces available, veterinary team reached out to us at Furry Friends Animal Therapy and, as it happened, we were just around the corner.
We didn’t hesitate.
Helen, founder of Furry Friends, and Imogen, an animal assisted therapy practitioner, collected Teddy and immediately began gently working through his severe matting. A large amount was carefully removed to make him more comfortable, but some areas remain too close to the skin and will require veterinary treatment. Imogen then brought Teddy home for much needed TLC, where he has already begun to settle beautifully.
Despite everything he has been through, Teddy has shown nothing but kindness. He is calm, affectionate, and incredibly trusting, the kind of temperament that feels truly special. He has settled in as though he has always been here. Imogen’s daughter has completely fallen in love with him, so it is safe to say he's found a happy home to be cared for and loved on.
We believe he is only a couple of years old at most, and now he deserves the fresh start he never had. While Teddy is now safe, his journey is not over yet.
To give him the healthy future he deserves, he will require veterinary grooming to safely remove the remaining matting, a full health check, vaccinations, and potential neutering. These are essential steps to ensure his long term wellbeing, comfort, and quality of life. We are committed to giving Teddy everything he needs, but as with many rescue situations, veterinary costs can quickly add up.
