The rainbow bridge has our hearts🥺✨🌈

Today, I had to say goodbye to one of my best friends, Barbara.

I’ve had Barbara for many years, but I had to make the heartbreaking decision to let her go.

At 5:45 this morning, she was peacefully put to sleep. Webster’s were absolutely brilliant. Barbara didn’t know anything was happening. She was simply enjoying her final meal, calm and unaware. It was still dark which seemed to make it a little easier.

Her friends were with her at first, but I moved them away so they didn’t have to see what was happening. I couldn’t bring myself to stay until the end (I am a coward), but thankfully my stepson Lewis was there with her. It was all over very quickly, and Barbara is now free from pain. She has slowly deteriorated over the past few months.

It hasn’t really hit me yet. This is the heartbreaking part of loving and caring for animals, we eventually have to make these incredibly difficult decisions for them. Someone once told me you just know when the time is right.

Rest peacefully, my beautiful Barbara. You were so loved, and you always will be. 🌈
