Caring for the Animals Behind the Visits

At Furry Friends Animal Therapy, animal welfare always comes first — even behind the scenes.

Recently we welcomed the lovely Daniel from Haven Larger Animal Vets to visit some of the animals here at the farm. Eddie received his second vaccination (which he definitely wasn’t too impressed about!) and Suzie was prescribed antibiotics after developing a runny nostril.

Although people often see the fun side of animal-assisted therapy visits, there is also a huge amount of ongoing care that happens away from sessions. Routine health checks, vaccinations, medication, monitoring behaviour and working closely with veterinary professionals are all part of responsible animal welfare.

Having trusted vets who understand our animals and share our welfare-first approach is incredibly important to us. Daniel is always patient, calm and wonderful with the animals, and it is reassuring to know they are receiving such compassionate care.

Just like people, every animal has individual needs, personalities and health requirements. Whether it is a miniature donkey needing vaccinations, a chicken needing treatment, or one of our smaller therapy animals having a routine check-up, every single one matters.

Our licence standards require high levels of welfare monitoring and veterinary care, but honestly, we would not have it any other way.

Healthy, happy animals are at the heart of everything we do. 🐾
